Our Story
Our goal is to provide a brighter future for adults with autism on Long Island for years to come.

Autism Communities was founded in 2016 by Charles Massimo to serve young adults with autism. Concerned about the slim independent living opportunities for young adults with autism, Charles wanted to create a community for them to call home.
The Long Island region has the largest population of children with autism in the United States. The first Autism Communities residents moved into their new home in Fall 2020. Through our housing opportunities and social programming, Autism Communities is actively working to create a brighter future for adults with autism on Long Island for years to come.
Autism Communities is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
